Music To Your Ears

“I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words how wonderful life is while you’re in the world.”
- Elton John, Your Song

If you’re anything like me, I could never imagine a world without music.  It has such a magical way of providing comfort, love, laughter and joy.  Your big day should be absolutely no exception.  Of course it’s important to have your ideal dress, a gorgeous venue, the most delicious food, all of your most important friends and family to celebrate with you.  But wouldn’t it be missing something without some amazing music to accompany the evening’s events?  With the right DJ, your night could turn from wonderful to splendiferous.  Yes, splendiferous.  That’s how strongly I feel about music.  And if you’re wondering, I spelled that without using spell check.  *Pats self on back*

At Oasis, one of our preferred vendors is Party Pleasers ~ a great company that can assist in so many aspects when it comes to your perfect day.  Of course music is the main service provided, but they also add to the lighting and decor.  Wouldn’t it be beautiful to have the newlyweds monogram lit up on the dance floor or on the wall behind the bridal party?  Or how about a spotlight on each table’s centerpiece (looks amazing in photos)?  Maybe top off the decorations with streamers or up lighting to match your wedding colors?  Party Pleasers offers all of this AND more.  I know a lot of people only think of the music aspect when they think of who they will hire for a DJ, but there are so many added benefits if you choose the right DJ.

Party Pleasers will meet with you before your wedding to go over exactly what you want.  Whether or not you want to allow guests to make song requests.  What kind of special dances you want to do.  What added lighting you want to make the atmosphere extra special and give photos that added touch.  They even offer great ideas that will have your guests interacting throughout the night.  Perhaps you want to play the “Shoelywed Game”, feature a “Kiss Cam”, or even play a game of table release trivia to decide who will be next in line for food!!  Your options are endless and the main goal is to make sure you have the wedding of your dreams while your guests enjoy themselves too.A florist provides more for the wedding than bouquets and boutonnieres.  It is important when planning your wedding to have a vision of what you want the room to look like.  The florist can provide flowers for the wedding party, of course.  But they are also able to enhance your venue by providing ceremony flowers and reception flowers.

I know everyone has heard of the “Anniversary Dance” where all the couples get up on the dance floor and slowly dwindle as the DJ asks who’s been married for 5 years, 10, 15, I even think I saw a 60 year couple at a wedding once!!  But one of my favorite ideas Party Pleasers offers is the “Reverse Anniversary Dance”.  They will start by asking anyone who has been married 50+ years to join the dance floor and work their way down to engaged couples.  Now a really good DJ will make sure every guest is interacting and enjoying themselves, so after the engaged couples, they’ll take it one step farther and ask all the single people to find someone to join them on the dance floor too!  Another popular dance is the “Dollar Dance”.  Now let me just say, if you are not considering doing this, change your mind RIGHT NOW.  The bride stands on one side of the dance floor while the groom stands on the opposite.  The maid of honor will collect the money for the bride and the best man will collect the money for the groom.  People will pay in exchange for a dance with the special couple of the night.  When my husband and I got married, we didn’t want to do a bunch of the cliche dances, we just wanted to make the most time to dance with everyone and enjoy our night.  However, our DJ suggested we do the dollar dance and we obliged.  Uhmm.. best decision ever.  We made like $150.  And my line of like thirty people compared to my husband’s line of like seven made for a nice ego boost.  And yes, I enjoyed reminding him of that for months to come.  Sorry babe! (Kind of)Posies, peonies, poppies…  Calla lilies, tulips, roses...  Succulents galore...  Whatever you envision for your big day, they will make it happen.  Entryway arrangements, altar arrangements, flowers for the pews or chairs, they do it all!  You can even repurpose some flowers while being conscious of your budget and transition your altar arrangement into a reception piece.  Work with their award-winning floral design team to create centerpieces that will leave your guests in awe and arrangements that will bring a smile to your face while looking back on pictures for years to come.

Party Pleasers also offers the option of confetti shots during various events such as the introduction of the bridal party or the bride and groom’s first dance.  Not something a lot of people may think of, but a pretty cool added bonus that not many people are expecting.  They will work with the venue, caterers, florists, etc. to ensure a perfect evening complete with exceptional lighting and music from the time your guests enter Oasis to the moment they leave.  If traditional flowers aren’t really your thing, Benken Florist has other options as well - flowering potted plants, H.J. Benken signature hanging flower baskets, or even live tree rentals.
